There will always be this balance of trying to set your life right vs actually just enjoying your life and not caring too much. I sort of tried to highlight that in the past two posts
Being A Student: Stressors
… we have many frustrating and stressful moments. The type of moments that make us want to scream even if our voices were to go away, we would still be screaming …
Being a Student: Social
“These are the best years of your life that you will wish to go back to when you are my age.” – said every adult
… but of course you read them already, because you would not break my heart like that.
Your “self” is your sense of who you are, deep down — your identity. Self comes from the Old English, in which it means “one’s own person.”

I think it is all a process to discovering ones self. I think we have all heard or seen a quote that says something about grapes being crushed to make wine, diamonds being put under pressure, olives being pressed for oil and seeds growing in dirt and darkness. And so, if you are every feeling like any one of those then you are in a place of transformation.

Self-discovery can happen in good, bad and ugly times. It happens for some quicker than others and even then it is subject to change or at least tweaked from time to time.
University is the hub of these good, bad and ugly times. So what better place or time in your life than this one to be one’s own person?
I remember just before I matriculated in grade 12, one of my teachers told me that life in uni really shows you something that you have never seen before, yep, high school is really shielding. It is good to explore the environment as well as yourself. You form relationships that can carry you through the rest of your life. Then she lightly added, “I am not saying that you should be scouting anyone out, but you might even find your husband (partner) there too. Just be open minded to the possibility.” Well, she was right about all of the above, but the last part is still pending or unconfirmed, haha.
Part of the process of finding the self is, also praising yourself when you are making progress and going in the right direction. Only you know what that direction is and when it feels right. Then also forgiving yourself, because there will, inevitably, be some mistakes made. Hopefully you don’t beat yourself up too much.
The student life is like a rollercoaster https://lets-be-royalty.blog/2019/04/26/rollercoaster-life/#more-139 like any other life, probably more so because it is the weird transition from a sheltered life to one where you are a young adult trying to figure it all out.
I am just going to end with this quote:
Stay true to yourself. An original is worth more than a copy.
